چکیده

The use of waste incineration with energy recovery is a matured waste-to-energy (WtE) technology. Waste can reduce the volume and mass municipal solid significantly. However, generation high volumes polluting flue gases one major drawbacks this Acidic are constituents in gas stream which deemed detrimental to environment. wet desulphurization (FGD) method widely employed clean acidic from streams, due its efficiency. A setback FGD technology production wastewater, must be treated before reuse or release into Treating wastewater presents challenges owing level contamination heavy metals other constituents. Membrane distillation (MD) offers several advantages regard, capture low-grade heat drive process. In study adopted for proposed plant located Ghana. Through flow analysis it was found that MD well matched treat 20 m3/h generated during operation. Thermal performance system assessed together two parametric studies. thermal efficiency, gained output ratio, specific consumption optimized simulated 64.9%, 2.34 966 kWh/m3, respectively, total demand 978.6 kW.

Dynamics of wet flue gas desulphurization in spray absorber

A concise one dimensional thermal-hydraulic two-fluid model is presented for the numerical prediction of sulphur dioxide absorption from the flue gas onto drops of the water-limestone slurry in the vertical spray tower absorber. The model is based on mass, momentum and energy balance equations for each phase separately, i.e. downward falling droplets of water-limestone slurry and upward flowing...

Investigation of Parameters Affecting Gypsum Dewatering Properties in a Wet Flue Gas Desulphurization Pilot Plant

Wet flue gas desulphurization (FGD) plants with forced oxidation, installed at coal and oil fired power plants for removal of SO2(g), must produce gypsum of high quality. However, quality issues such as an excessive moisture content, due to poor gypsum dewatering properties, may occur from time to time. In this work, the particle size distribution, morphology, and filtration rate of wet FGD gyp...

A Review on Applications of Membrane Distillation (MD) Process for Wastewater Treatment

The growing scarcity of fresh water is driving the implementation of wastewater treatment and water reuse on an increasingly large scale. Various methods have been developed and used for water reuse from wastewater; however, the membrane distillation (MD) process, as a promising separation technology, has recently gained more attention. The MD process is a non-isothermal membrane-based separati...

Microbial communities associated with wet flue gas desulfurization systems

Flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems are employed to remove SO(x) gasses that are produced by the combustion of coal for electric power generation, and consequently limit acid rain associated with these activities. Wet FGDs represent a physicochemically extreme environment due to the high operating temperatures and total dissolved solids (TDS) of fluids in the interior of the FGD units. Despi...

Efficient treatment of baker’s yeast wastewater using aerobic membrane bioreactor

A membrane bioreactor (MBR) system based on a dead-end immersed hollow fiber membrane and filamentous fungus Aspergillus oryzae were used for treatment of baker’s yeast wastewater. The fungus was adapted to the wastewater in the bioreactor for two weeks before starting the continuous process. Average organic loading rate of 4.2 kg COD/m3.d was entered the bioreactor. MBR system was able to redu...
